Rotterdam, April 20, 2024 – A Bridge Between Sicily and the Netherlands
Rotterdam, the dynamic port city of the Netherlands, renowned for its cutting-edge architecture and vibrant cultural scene, proved to be the perfect stage for an evening dedicated to showcasing the excellence of Sicilian agri-food products. Interest in Sicilian cuisine, rooted in Mediterranean tradition yet open to innovation, continues to grow in the Netherlands, where the quality and authenticity of Italian products are increasingly appreciated.
On April 20, an exclusive event was held at Osteria Sala Federico, attended by journalists, professionals from the food and wine sector, and Dutch business operators. The gathering was part of a targeted promotional strategy to strengthen the presence of certified Sicilian products in the international market, with a focus on IGP Terre Siciliane wines, Sicilia DOC wines, organic extra virgin olive oil, and high-quality certified meat. The activities were carried out with funding from the Regional Department of Agriculture.
An Evening Celebrating Made in Sicily
Welcomed by the warm and authentic hospitality of Chef Peppe Cappellano, guests were immersed in the unique Sicilian atmosphere created by Osteria Sala Federico. The meticulously organized evening combined conviviality with technical insights, offering a comprehensive experience through guided tastings and direct meetings with representatives of Sicilian companies.
The fresh and processed products were presented with care, accompanied by detailed explanations of their organoleptic characteristics, winning over the attendees. Among the most appreciated were the certified wines and organic olive oil, which stood out for their superior quality and strong ties to their region of origin.
The initiative marks the beginning of a series of promotional activities aimed at introducing and familiarizing the Dutch public with high-quality Sicilian products.
The event in Rotterdam confirmed the strong appeal of Sicilian products in the Dutch market, highlighting how the combination of targeted tastings and networking represents a winning strategy for promoting the region’s excellence. The foundation has now been laid for new collaborations and growth opportunities in the coming months.
